It's the Acer Iconia A500, by the way. Also on tap: an 8GB flash drive for $5.49 out the door, and "Holy cheap games, Batman!"
Not sure what prompted this, but over the weekend I received a handful of really nice e-mails from readers. It's deeply gratifying to know that you like what I'm doing here, and I offer my sincere thanks to everyone who's written me to say so. You people are the best.
Now that the touchy-feely stuff's out of the way, on to today's deals! Yes, that's "deals" plural. Sometimes I can't pick just one!
1. While supplies last, Secondipity has the used Acer Iconia A500-10S08u 10.1-inch Android tablet for $239.99 shipped. (Cool bonus: Secondipity donates a portion of the proceeds to public schools by way of DonorsChoose.org. That's awesome; I wish more resellers would do likewise.)
According to the product description, the tablet "shows signs of light use," which to me sounds roughly equivalent to "refurbished." It's complete in box with all accessories, and it comes with a 90-day warranty, same as a typical refurb.
The A500 has solid specs, including a dual-core processor, 8GB of storage (easily expandable via dirt-cheap microSD cards), dual cameras, GPS, and Android 3.1 (Honeycomb).
About a year ago, when it was brand new and selling for nearly twice the price, CNET rated the A500 3.5 stars. If you already have one of these, hit the comments and let your fellow cheeps know how you like it.
The C802 has a retractable USB plug (my favorite design!) and looks pretty darn stylish overall. Can't imagine these will last long at this price.
3. Game time! Best Buy is offering Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition (Windows download) for $4.99. That's the lowest price I can recall for that title, which made quite a lot of "best" lists when it debuted a couple years back. Too good to pass up, in my humble opinion, especially if you're into action games.
Cheapskate out. (Hmm. That seems a little hackneyed. I need a good sign-off catchphrase. Any suggestions?)
